Do angels have bodies?

For hundreds of years, angels have been represented in various ways. According to Nancy Grubb, author of a little book called Angels published in 1995, the first depictions of angels in paintings presented them with only the upper half as human and the lower half as mist, clouds, or flames. Some depictions presented angels with only a head and wings surrounding the head. Others depicted angels as mist or light waves.

As time went on, the angelic representations went on to become more corporeal and physical.
“The angelic imagery has progressed through the ages from something ethereal to something more carnal”, said Grubb in her book, “this is parallel to the progression of culture moving from faith in the non-physical to mostly trusting direct observation and documented tangible proof”.
During the 18th century (XVIII), the angelic depictions saw a rise in more corporeal imagery, or angels were represented as basically humans with wings.
“As the unconditional belief in angels diminished, the credibility of their representations increased”, stated Grubb.
This is why today many people think that angels have bodies and look human. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. What also couldn’t be further from the truth is that angels have many eyes, are drenched in fire, have four heads, or are scary looking despite what the bible says.

Angels have no form or body; they are light beings. A more accurate representation of them would be to imagine a light or frequencies emanating from a source. The idea that angels have no physical body is not new though.
In the 13th century (1,201s) Thomas of Aquino, a Dominican friar, priest, philosopher, theologian, and jurist declared that angels were pure consciousness (intelligences) and therefore had no physical body. Thomas of Aquino was well known and celebrated for his work, which no doubt, influenced many people.
Despite this influence, if you go to modern-day channelers, psychics, mystics, and readers it is very possible that most of them do not know about Thomas of Aquino or his work. In fact, many channelers and angel communicators in the spiritual community today usually have no prior information to work on before channeling that angels indeed have no form.
The reason angels are depicted with form in art is that people needed representations of them. That’s understandable, but why then does it say in the Bible that they had many eyes, were engulfed in fire, or had multiple heads?
Well, since angels don't have a body and are only consciousness, they can choose the shapes they take if they decide to take any shape at all. But there’s another side to that coin. Due to them being consciousness only when angels appear people will see them depending on the perspective of that person.
So, people see angels as what they think angels are not really what they are. Like how we see the rest of the world, through our own lens.
Angels do not have wings nor halos either, many believe these “wings” and “halos” are the high frequency of the angels emanating out and forming what people think are “wings”. Their frequency is also what creates the supposed “flames” that people had either seen them in or depicted them in.
Finally, angels do not have eyes or heads. They have no need for these as they have no body. In their light form, they can perceive anything and everything via vibrations.
Have you seen or perceived angels before? Let me know what they looked like to you in the comments. Thanks for reading!
